Sentinel Managed Portfolios are uniquely set up in the same way as if clients were investing themselves. That is, clients are set up with their own specific share account (with a CHESS HIN) and bank account so all cash, shares and security holdings are directly held in the client’s name. There is no use of a custodian or pooling mechanism.
This creates a range of advantages:
Every transaction generates an individual contract note so clients can see exactly what is being bought and sold on their account at all times.
Peace of Mind
All client holdings are held directly and therefore separately from all other clients so no parties have any charge over their assets. This also means that Sentinel holds no barrier to exit over a client and the only reason they choose to stay with us is because they are happy with our results and service.
At all times, clients are able to quickly and easily transfer holdings in and out of their Sentinel Managed Portfolio. Similarly, the individual and direct bank account setup means that cash can be credited or debited as desired without the need for complicated and slow redemptions as in the case with managed funds.
Clients are able to tailor their Portfolio to suit their individual preferences. This is quite unique in the context of managed portfolios. Clients can request to avoid investment in certain areas (for example, for ethical reasons) as well as setting exposure levels.
Normally a do-it-yourself account setup of this nature would entail a great deal of workload and paperwork. However Sentinel handles every aspect so that you have the look and feel of investing yourself, without any of the workload.
